2020 Mazda MX-5 is a continuation of a great model that was made last year, with great new details and changes in the engine. However, future buyers should know that there is no official information about the releasing date and possible changes in design or engine strength from the last year model, so most of the information we shared here is about the last year model.
- The model is modernly designed and very attractive.
- There is an upgraded engine under the hood.
- The equipment could be better.
- The cabin design is boring and too old for modern buyers.
2020 Mazda MX-5 has not been announced to be changed this year, so most of the details we have now are taken from the last year model. Being in a class that competes with great sporty convertible cars like Nissan 370Z or Subaru BRZ.
However, there are impressive additions on the rear end, so it looks modern and attractive with thin taillights on the trunk door. The rear end is short and thin, with soft edges and oval front light. The manufacturer said that they will offer new color pallet this time, too.
There is a perfect combination of the sportiness and elegance inside of 2020 Mazda MX-5, mostly thanks to the sports seats covered with the leather in beige. Although modernly equipped, the dashboard looks a little old fashioned thanks to the sharp edges and very thin command area. However, the telescopic steering wheel and chromatic details are enough for a new look at this amazing sporty car.
We know that the last year model got improved 2.0-liter four-in-line petrol engine, taken from Mazda 3 before that and we do not expect changes in that field for this year. The engine has the standard hot-rodding procedure, larger intake and exhaust valves, and lighter pistons and connecting rods. All those changes provide 181 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque.
Along with it comes weaker 1.5-liter four-cylinder, but those will be able to buy fans from other markets, outside of US. This engine is capable to produce the strength of 155 horsepower. The most important upgrade is in the suspension area, providing easier driving and handling and gripping for more strength and better control. It is also known that the model has lightweight chassis so increasing time for 60 mph is 7.5 seconds.
2020 Mazda MX-5 Release Date and Price
The price of 2020 Mazda MX-5 should not be significantly changed from the last year model, meaning $26,000 for the base model and more than $10,000 above with additional equipment and technology. However, it should not be more expensive than $35,000 which is the average price for the model in the class. The releasing date is unknown yet, so we expect that it could be after half of the year.
