The smallest model in Jeep’s lineup has been around 2014. We have already seen a facelift, which happened several months ago. The 2019 year model comes with a lot of updates, but that definitely doesn’t mean that there won’t be anything left for the 2020 Jeep Renegade. The company officially confirmed that we are about to see a plug-in hybrid version in the next year. More precise details are still unavailable, while the expectations from the new version are big, especially if we consider that there aren’t too many electrified subcompact crossovers around.

2020 Jeep Renegade front

While we expect to see a new hybrid powertrain in the offer, the visual appearance of 2020 Jeep Renegade definitely won’t change. This model has been facelifted recently. The new version was presented this summer and shows a nice amount of novelties. Some of the highlights are new front and rear bumper and a new, larger grille. Also, there are new LED headlights, the same one you can find in the new Wrangler, as well as new graphics on taillights. Considering all these novelties, it seems certain that the 2020 Jeep Renegade will keep in the same way. Of course, the same goes to mechanics, which haven’t been changed since the initial launch in 2014.

Interior

On the inside, the current model looks good. It offers stylish cabin design, as well as a pretty high quality of all materials. Seats are supportive, while the cargo capacity is above average for the class. On the other side, the list of standard equipment should be longer. In this aspect, the Renegade definitely can’t compete with much better-equipped models like Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-3, Toyota C-HR, and others. Therefore, we hope that the 2020 Jeep Renegade could finally include things like cruise control and air conditioning in the list of standard equipment.

Engines

As we already mentioned, a new plug-in hybrid version has been confirmed. However, we still don’t know any details about this powertrain. Also, we are about to see a new gasoline engine in the offer. The Renegade features poor fuel economy for the class and a new 1.3-liter unit could be a salvation. This engine comes in two output variants, with either 150 or 180 horsepower. Also, it can be paired with either 6-speed manual or 9-speed automatic gearbox. On the other side, a familiar 2.4-liter unit will carry on, with its max output of 180 horsepower.

2020 Jeep Renegade Release Date and Price

A new plug-in hybrid model has been confirmed, which indicates that the 2020 Jeep Renegade could arrive a little bit earlier, probably in the third quarter of next year. Base models should go around $19,000.
