The current, tenth generation of the iconic mid-size sedan has been introduced a little bit more than a year ago. In normal circumstances, the third year of production wouldn’t bring too many changes. However, this segment is in a decline in the past few years, mainly due to a huge overflow of crossovers. Therefore, the manufacturer is trying to keep good sales numbers with more often updates and probably shorter production cycles. This leads us to a logical conclusion that the 2020 Honda Accord is about to receive an update, which has been mentioned in many unofficial reports so far. We haven’t heard anything from the officials so far, so all the following is based on rumors and speculations.
- Amazing overall quality
- Efficient and powerful engines
- Excellent handling
- Great fuel economy
- Upscale interior
- Long list of standard equipment
- Rear headroom could be more generous
- Many found seating position a little bit lower than it should be
As we’ve just mentioned, we can only speculate at this moment. Our basic presumption would be that Honda will make production cycle shorter and that we are about to see a mid-cycle refresh in the next year. This means a fine number of interesting changes. Most of them should be visual and most of them should affect the front end. Still, keep in mind that the current model is very fresh and that there is no real need for some more spectacular modifications. Most likely, we will see some subtle changes at the front, on areas like front fascia, grill, and bumpers. Rest of the vehicle could also come with some minor tweaks, but don’t expect to see anything special. One of the possible changes to see would be a new trunk design, which currently opens in a pretty narrow-angle.
At this point, we really see no reason for any change inside this superior sedan. The overall interior quality is amazing, pretty much on par with premium cars. Hi-grade materials are all around the cabin, which isn’t the case with biggest rivals Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima, and Hyundai Sonata. Of course, there is plenty of standard equipment, especially in terms of tech and safety features. Probably the only main complain about the Accord’s interior would be headroom on back seats, which could be more generous.
Changes under the hood are not expected. The 2020 Honda Accord should continue with two familiar gasoline engines. Base models will feature a 1.5-liter turbo-four, which delivers 192 horsepower. An optional 2.0-liter engine, also turbo four, is good for 252 horsepower. Of course, there is a hybrid version in the offer as well. This one delivers around 212 horsepower and also features amazing fuel economy that goes close to 50 miles per gallon.
2020 Honda Accord Release Date and Price
The 2020 Honda Accord should get a mid-cycle update. Therefore, we could on a little bit earlier arrival, probably sometime in the third quarter of next year. On the other side, the price should remain unchanged. Base models should go around $24,000.
