The current generation is getting close to the end of its production and most car enthusiasts are eagerly waiting to see a new model. While some reports suggest that the new generation is about to come as 2020 Dodge Durango, others believe that the new model won’t come that soon. In any case, it will definitely be worth of waiting.
Allegedly, the new model will get a completely new, traditional body-on-frame platform, which promises a lot of exciting things, starting from much better off-road capabilities and more rugger overall appearance.
- Completely redesigned
- More capable than before
- Upscale cabin
- Could lose a bit of riding quality
If we can rely on the latest reports, the 2020 Dodge Durango will come completely redesigned. This time it will take a separate way, compared to its corporal sibling Grand Cherokee, which will be based on Alfa Romeo’s platform. It looks like the new Durango will be a real SUV. It will ride on a traditional body-on-frame platform.
Of course, the architecture will be borrowed from the new Ram, which guarantees rugged construction and excellent capabilities. Of course, we will see completely new aesthetics as well. As we already mentioned, many reports suggest that this redesign won’t happen so soon. In that case, the 2020 Dodge Durango would come pretty much the same as the current model.
Of course, completely new interior design will be an integral part of this redesign as well. Still, exact details are still unknown. So, we must rely on our own predictions at the moment. Considering that the new model will ride on Ram’s platform, there is a big chance to see more rugged-looking cabin, with more massive dashboard layout.
We count on a pretty upscale looking cabin, full of hi-quality materials and with plenty of standard equipment. Unfortunately, details about the model’s size are still unavailable, so we can’t say how spacious the new model will be. In any case, count on a typical three-row layout.
When it comes to the powertrain, we probably won’t see too many changes compared to the current model. Most likely, base versions will feature a familiar 3.6-liter V6 engine, which is good for about 305 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque.
Count on familiar V8 units as well. A smaller 5.7-liter engine is expected to come with a nice power boost, so a max output will go around 395 horsepower. On the other side, details about a large 6.4-liter engine are still unknown. It currently delivers around 475 horsepower.
2020 Dodge Durango Release Date and Price
The 2020 Dodge Durango should come sometime late in the year. The price will largely depend on the fact whether the next year is about to bring redesigned model to us or not.
