We are getting ready to see the completely new 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe. GM is renewing complete full-size SUV lineup and all models should be redesigned by the end of the year.
The Chevy’s model is about to come with a fine number of novelties, starting from a new platform, new styling, interior design, engines etc. The testing mule has been spotted on the road and it looks like the new model is in the final stage of development, despite the camouflage. It will come pretty soon, probably in the second half of the year.
- Wide palette of engines
- Comfortable cabin.
- Intuitive infotainment system.
- High expected reliability ratings.
- Traditionally lower interior quality compared to rivals.
- Tough competition.
When it comes to redesigns, one of the first things that come to mind is the platform. The 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe is about to ride on GM’s new T1 platform, which already underprints the new Silverado. Benefits from this architecture will be numerous, starting from the significant weight reduction, as the new model is about to be lighter for about 300 pounds.
Besides significant technical improvements, the new model is also about to come with completely new aesthetics. Count on completely new styling, based on the company’s latest design language, which will include interesting air curtains as well. This interesting detail, positioned on the front bumper allows better airflow but also cools disc brakes on front wheels.
Besides new outside aesthetics, we count on a new interior layout as well. Of course, the most notable will be a new dashboard, which is about to come with finer materials and plenty of new technologies. However, a more important thing will be solving third-row issues that characterized the current-generation model.
Compared to competitors like Ford Expedition or Toyota Sequoia, the outgoing Tahoe features less space in the third row and looks more like a mid-size crossover than a full-size SUV in this aspect. Another important novelty for the next year should be an independent rear suspension. Although a mechanical feature, this upgrade will bring improvements mainly on the inside, as the 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe is about to feature much better comfort thanks to this feature.
A new turbo-four engine is also among interesting novelties of the upcoming redesign. The base 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe will feature the company’s new 2.7-liter turbo-four engine, which delivers around 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. Also, we count on two familiar V8 units.
The first one is a 5.3-liter V8, which is good for about 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. A bigger 6.2-liter unit is good for about 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Finally, some reports also suggest a diesel version, which would come with a 3.0-liter turbodiesel that delivers around 280 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque.
2020 Chevrolet Tahoe Release Date and Price
It looks like the 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe will hit the market sometime in the third quarter of the year. We don’t expect bigger changes, in terms of the price, compared to the current model, which goes around $48,000.
