After quite a long time, the 2020 Chevrolet Colorado will finally get a facelift. Although Colorado came back to North America in 2014, the current generation is actually in production since 2012. Considering that the competition is getting tougher, the company decided to give us one major update before the next generation arrives. We count on lots of novelties. Of course, visual upgrades come first to mind, but latest reports suggest novelties under the hood as well. Moreover, there is a big chance to see some completely new trim levels in the offer. Expect to see 2020 Chevrolet Colorado in the second half of next year.
- Wide engine palette
- Great towing capabilities
- Lots of versions in the offer
- Attractive price
- Interior could be more stylish
- Cargo bed could be more versatile
Despite the company has announced that this update is about to affect various aspects of the truck, there is no doubt that the exterior will suffer most. While the mechanics and base design are about to remain the same, we count on several novelties in terms of the styling. The base shape will remain the same, but we count on a completely new front face. Expect a lot of influence from the ZR2 AEV concept, but we also pretty sure that the new model will copy the new Silverado in some aspects as well. Count on same body styles in the offer.
Interior changes are expected as well. The current model features a cabin that may not look spectacular but definitely, serve the purpose. You definitely won’t find some super-fine materials on the inside, but the overall quality is on a high level. Of course, it is more durable than stylish, that is what we expect from a truck after all. For the upcoming refresh, we expect to see few tweaks to the dashboard, and more standard equipment. Some reports suggest even a new hi-performance off-road trim level called LTZ, which seems like a proper response to the rumored Ford Ranger Raptor. Another big rival is the amazing Toyota Tacoma, famous for its spectacular off-road performances.
If we can rely on rumors, a new turbo inline-four unit should find its place under the hood of new 2020 Chevrolet Colorado as well. Of course, we are talking about a 2.7-liter unit that delivers around 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque. Rest of the lineup should remain the same. Base models will continue with a familiar 200-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder, while the higher trim will feature a familiar 3.6-liter V6, which is good for 308 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. Finally, there is a familiar 2.8-liter diesel engine that delivers around 180 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque.
2020 Chevrolet Colorado Release Date and Price
The 2020 Chevrolet Colorado will come sometime in the second half of next year. Price should remain in the same range, which means that base models will go around $20.000.
