2019 Kia Rio is a mid-version of the famous model, completely redesigned last year and this time offered as a slightly changed model with only few updates and improvements. As Michael Cole, Chief Operating Officer for Kia Motor said their Kia is one of the most sold models around the world, sold in more than 57,000 units during 2017 and one of the most attractive sporty hatchbacks from this factory. That is not strange that they are planning to increase the number of units in years to come.
There is almost the same design of the 2019 Kia Rio as on the last year model, with few changes for this year version. Fans will notice small changes on the front end, with slightly redesigned bumper, now almost covered with metal and very thin grill and air intake on the bottom. There is ice cube designed front lights and small fog lights. The rear end is rounded and has slightly redesigned rear lights.
There are no much changes inside of 2019 Kia Rio from the last model, so it is the same elegant but sporty cabin made in combination of quality fabric and leather, with few chromatic details. As the last model brought redesigned center cluster, with a 7.0-inch touchscreen, it will remain in the new model, too, with few upgraded technology innovations. Besides that, redesigned D-cut leathered steering wheel should offer new look at modern design of the car, with modernly designed details on the dashboard.
Besides the 1.6-liter inline petrol unit that produces 138 horsepower and 123 pound-feet of torque, already used in last year model, 2019 Kia Rio should be equipped with two new engines, which should provide more power and strength, in combination with low fuel economy, thanks to the combination with lightweight materials. As a new base model will be offered 1.0-liter three-cylinder petrol unit with 118 horsepower and another one should be a 1.4-liter that generates 98 horsepower. All engines are paired with the six-speed automatic transmission.
2019 Kia Rio Release date
Although it is expected that 2019 Kia Rio should be on the market almost at the end of the year, or even at beginning of the next year, there is a GT-version of the model that could be revealed this spring. The price starts from $14,000 and should not be higher than $18,500 with all equipment included. The competitors are usual hatchbacks like Ford Fiesta, Honda City and Toyota Yaris, but Kia Rio is more than competitive thanks to the favorable price.
