The guys from Honda made the most radical changes ever with this new 2018 Honda Civic and because of that Honda is calling this car “an epic new Civic”. In the New York auto show back in April Honda shocked the world with the new Honda Civic concept, they made a radical departure from the somewhat disappointing ninth generation Civic. Now the new Civic we are happy to say carried over most of the design influence from the Civic concept showcased in New York.
2018 Honda Civic Exterior
When we look at the front fascia of this car we can see nice and fancy LED headlights, also the grille of this new Civic pretty bold it’s more in-your-face it’s much more premium. At the back it received also LED taillights. This premium look is achieved with the new proportions, they lowered it about an inch, it is also two inches wider and three inches longer which overall it gives this car a much more aggressive stance. The wheels are also redesigned and they have now 17-inch. It is available in LX, EX, EX-T, EX-L and Touring trims.
Honda Civic Interior
When we step inside we can see that the materials are very nice, the dashboard is comprised of an all soft-touch material with some nice stitching too. The steering wheel is newly designed, it’s a three spoke wrapped in very high quality leather. Also completely they changed the gauges stile and mounted it on the LCD screens. On the center console is located the 7-inch touchscreen display equipped with new Apple car play and Android auto.
2018 Honda Civic Engine
Now under the hood of the brand new 2018 Honda Civic they offer two new engines. The first is a 1.5-Liter turbocharged direct injection four-cylinder engine and the good news are that this don’t have Honda’s CVT but instead it have what they call a DTC. The numbers are pretty good it delivers 274 horsepower and 162 pound feet of torque. This engine still have good gas mileage numbers like 31 MPG in the city and 42 MPG on the highway. Second engine is a 2.0-Liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine that makes 158 horsepower and 138 pound feet of torque with 31/41 MPG’s. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 in 6.8 seconds while the top speed is 126 miles per hour.
2018 Honda Civic Price and Release date
The new Honda Civic price is starting at $19,125 and goes up to $30,225 for the Touring model. Major competitors are: Mazda Mazda 3, Volkswagen Golf, Ford Focus and Volkswagen Jetta.
