The guys from Mitsubishi did a great thing with the Outlander PHEV plug-in hybrid and they succeeded with this type of car on all markers. Because of that success the Japanese automaker is announced the first ever 2017 Mitsubishi Pajero Hybrid model to hit the market in 2017. They also announces that the ASX model will come in hybrid version too. Mitsubishi released some details about the Pajero hybrid but not enough, now we will try to make a picture of the car with some gossip and confirmed info.
Beside the newly developed hybrid engine the SUV will get a new design inside and out to match the hybrid name. The old-school boxy which embodying the Pajero look will stay the main design language, but it will be interesting how will be the end look of this vehicle. They have the GC-PHEV concept but it is very futuristic to put it to mass production. Also the aluminium will be heavily incorporated in the vehicle for obvious reasons.
Because the futuristic interior GC-PHEV concept is still few decades ahead of us, the guys from Mitsubishi will keep the well known interior layout but with some 2017 changes. The door panels and dash will be done in soft touch materials mated with chrome accents. Leather or cloth upholstery seats will be chosen by the buyer, but the comfort is guaranteed in both choices. Tech: couple of 9-inch touchscreens with infotainment system, 12-speaker sound system by Rockford and a DVD player. Safety features are: rear view camera and parking sensors, traction control, six airbags, hill descent control, brake assist and ABS.
The combination of engines under the hood of this iconic SUV are a 3.0-Liter V6 gasoline engine (specs still unknown) this engine is mated with the electric engine (specs also unknown). The battery pack will have a 12kW. All we know about the specs right now is that the combined power of the gasoline and electric unit will be 430 horsepower and 430 pound feet of torque. Another info that we have is the 25 mile range which is achieved only on batteries.
