When we heard for 2019 Toyota Avensis for the first time on Geneva Auto Show in March they said that Avensis will not exist in Europe anymore due to the very small number of sold units. However, US market will enjoy this model again, and this time they made a new version of it in order to be competitive with modern small compact cars on the market.
There are expected many changes in 2019 Toyota Avensis, which we concluded on test driving and thick protection on the car which covered literally everything. There is slightly changed the shape of the front end, with the wide front bumper, dropped to the ground and narrowed LED front lights. There are visibly larger 17-inch and 18-inch alloy wheels and aerodynamic roof. The rear end is higher, with few curves in the middle and possibly bulges on the rear lights. However, as the manufacturer announced, there will be two versions of Avensis, wagon and a sedan, so rear end could be different and longer.
The cabin of 2019 Toyota Avensis brings many improvements and high-technology, as we always see in Toyota cars. On the top of the dashboard stands 4.2-inch or 8-inch touchscreen with perfectly layout buttons and commands. The manufacturer provided all types of connections, like USB ports and Bluetooth connection, while higher trims could get a forward crash caution, automated braking system, adaptive cruise controls, airbags and rear view cam, even though some of them could be added with the base model, too.
All we know about the engines in 2019 Toyota Avensis are predictions and speculations according to information we had by now. It is likely that the old 1.8-liter and 2.0-liter will be replaced with one engine and that could be 1.6-liter turbocharged with 132 horsepower and 152 pound-feet of torque. However, there are rumors that Avensis could become a diesel car thanks to 1.8-liter or 2.0-liter (or both) diesel engine. It is not confirmed yet, so we can expect more information during the year.
2019 Toyota Avensis
2019 Toyota Avensis is still in test phase, meaning that we should not expect it before fall. When that happens, predicted the price will be around $20,000 for the base model, which is more than competitive nowadays. Avensis was already announced as more economical than competitors in past few years, but it will be interesting to see how it will beat the competition like BMW 5, Jaguar XF, Volvo S90, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and Audi A6 this time.
