Model S has been developed even further with new batteries, engines and a slightly more impressive look. The car still is comfortable, fast and efficient and it remains the only electric car on the market which can offer over 200 miles of all electric range. In fact, it is the only electric car which has a greater range than 130 miles which is a massive feat for Tesla. The 2018 Tesla Model S is the latest car in the range and unlike the previous versions, it comes with upgraded specs on all models.

2018 Tesla Model S Price

The old 40 and 60 models have been discontinued altogether which has been expected for quite some time, especially now when the new batteries have arrived. The base price of the car on the other hand remained the same which is always nice, especially since the specs went up. The base S 70 can be had for $70,000 while the top of the range P85D and its performance upgrade, the P90D, can be had for $105,000 which still is a great price considering what these cars can do. All models have already been released on the market and they’re available around the World for roughly the same price.

Design

Its design did not change all that much since it was released nearly four years ago which shows even though it still looks great. The 2018 Tesla Model S looks understated to say the least and even though it has the performance of a super car, it does not look like one. Instead, the front end has a mild look to it with two LED headlights which make the car look very balanced. The wheels are 18 inches in diameter and even though they may seem small, they’re just the right size while the back of the car features the same design as that of the 2012 model. The only difference between the base car and the range topping model are a few badges as well as the different rims which on the top end model are bigger and they’re wrapped in high performance tires rather than the low rolling resistance ones of the base car.

Interior

Inside the cabin, the Model S still offers one of the most unique layouts in the industry. The car offers the usual five seats inside the cabin while the trunk there are two more seats which face the other way. These pop-out from the floor and they’re equipped with five-point harnesses in order to keep the occupants safe. Take into account though that only children can use these. The dashboard is understated as well with a massive 17 inch touch-screen in the center console and an LCD screen instead of the usual instrument cluster. The design is simple, effective and the materials are great with leather, wood, carbon fiber or aluminum being available even on the base car.

Engine

In terms of engines, the 2018 Tesla Model S comes with either a single electric motor which ranges from 315 horsepower on the 70 model and up to 470 horsepower on the P85 high performance version of the car. The all wheel drive versions add a second electric motor and the power for this ranges from 329 horsepower for the 70D model and up to 762 horsepower for the P90D. The latter has just been released at the end of 2014 and it makes the Model S one of the fastest accelerating cars in the World and the fastest production electric vehicle in the World. It can get the Model S from 0 to 60 MPH in just 2.8 seconds and up to a limited top speed of 155 MPH. Its range is also great and it increases with the power of the engines meaning that the most efficient one is the 90D which offers 270 miles of all electric range.
