If you didn’t know yet, Nismo is Nissan’s high performance division which tunes their cars in order to squeeze the most amount of performance with the smallest impact on price. The brand has a long running history and it has been available with the 370Z sports car since it was launched. However, not too long ago Nissan actually released a concept car based on the 370Z, the 2018 Nissan 370Z Nismo roadster which was supposed to be released some time the early summer of 2015 but they decided not too in the last second. This is a bit of a shame because that car had great potential. In its place Nissan released an updated for the new 370Z which includes a few changes on the interior as well as slight updates on the exterior.

2018 NIssan 370z Nismo Release Date and Price

While it may not seem like much, this is all it takes for it to remain a great car. The 370Z Nismo is not all about looks, comfort or even straight line speed. It is more about cornering performance, sound and feel. The Nismo 370Z is one of the last few true driver’s car and we just hope that Nissan will continue to make a similar model in the next few years because it is the perfect car for a true driver. Its pricing has already been released and the coupe version can be had for just $42,000. Unfortunately the roadster is just a concept but there is a small chance for it to come as a 2017 model.

Engine

Engine wise, the 2018 Nissan 370Z Nismo makes use of the same powertrain as before, a naturally aspirated 3.7 liter V6 which is quite capable at 350 horsepower and 276 lb-ft of torque. Most of that power and torque comes at quite high up the rev range meaning it loves to be revved all the way up to more than 8000 rpm. The engine is then mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox which is one of the most precise in the World and it sends all of its power to the rear wheels via a limited slip differential, enough to make it a perfect choice for drivers. The performance is not that impressive with a top speed of around 155 MPH and a 0 to 60 MPH time of just 5 seconds. However, thanks to the fact it has a naturally aspirated engine, the power delivery is linear and instant so it is really nice to drive.

The exterior of the 2018 Nissan 370Z Nismo on the other hand remained unchanged since the 2014 model but this is to be expected considering it is based on the usual 370Z. The front end is identical to that of the previous model while at the back it has a slightly different exhaust system. The car comes with a few color choices but the most appreciated of them all is the white with black and red accents which offers it a really unique look.

The cabin of the 2018 Nissan 370Z Nismo received a few more upgrades than its engine or exterior. In fact, the car now comes with an all new Bose audio system as standard which is a really nice step-up over the previous model. On top of that the infotainment system received a slightly different interface which should be easier to use as well as a clearer display. All of these should make for a nicer experience for the driver and its passengers. On top of that, there is a new active noise cancellation system which uses the Bose speakers as well as an active sound system which extracts noise from the engine and sends it into the cabin via a resonator, giving its passenger a really visceral experience.
