The first model of the 2018 Infiniti Q60 has been released back in 2014 and it was basically the same car as the G37 Coupe but with a different name. However, after they released the Q50 which was a completely new car rather than just a rename of the old G37 sedan, Infiniti decided that it might be the perfect time to release a new coupe version. The 2018 Infiniti Q60 is actually going to be an entirely new car rather than just an update and it will be based on a new platform. The car will use new engines, a new running gear and it will also get a completely different look which is set to serve as the model for the next generation cars from Infiniti.

Engine

Engine wise, the old 3.7 liter V6 of the previous generation is finally going to be discontinued. In its place, the 2018 Infiniti Q60 will use all new engines which are all going to be provided by Mercedes. The base model will make use of a 2 liter turbocharged inline 4 which will also debut next year on the Q50. This engine should be able to provide around 240 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque or just as much as the current C Class. Further up the range, the older V6 will be replaced with an all new 3 liter twin-turbocharged V6 which has been developed with the help of Mercedes. This is expected to come with two different power outputs. The base model will provide around 330 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque which is a really nice boost over the previous engine’s 260 lb-ft of torque.

Performance

A high performance version of this engine will also be available on the top end model of the Q60 which is set to compete with the Audi S5 or even the Mercedes AMG Coupe. This should be able to provide around 450 horsepower and more than 400 lb-ft of torque and while it may not sound all that much, the engine will be superior to that of the M3 or the S5 which is great news for Infiniti. All engines will come with rear wheel drive as standard while some of them will also be available with all wheel drive. The only transmission of choice is likely going to be an improved 7 speed automatic which should be much faster than the current generation.

Design

The exterior design of the 2018 Infiniti Q60 has not been left untouched. While the car has not been released on the market just yet, it has been showcased to the public as a concept and it does look stunning. The front end has the specific Infiniti grille but the headlights and the lower part of the bumper are all new while in the back a quad exhaust system has been mounted for the better sound it provides and for the visual impact. The cabin has not been revealed just yet but it is safe to assume that it will be more luxurious than before and it may actually borrow quite a few design elements from the Q50 Sedan which would make a lot of sense considering the Q60 is going to be the coupe version of that car.

2018 Infiniti Q60 Release Date and Price

Unlike their other cars, the Q60 will actually use a Mercedes platform which it will share with the Mercedes C Class and C Class Coupe. This new platform will be lighter and more rigid than the one of the previous model and it should also allow the car to drive a lot better. The release date has been set for the mid of 2017 and the production model should follow shortly after. The price has not been made available to the public just yet but it is likely that the car will cost over $40,000 when it will launch.
