The Q50 is the latest car 2018 Infiniti Q50 Hybrid RWD released on the market and even though it is not perfect, it is certainly better than the car it is replacing, the G sedan. In order to make the car better, the 2013 model is finally going to go through a well deserved update with the 2018 Infiniti Q50. This new model is going to add to the range a completely new engine, a couple of new trim levels as well as slight exterior changes. Also, in order to allow the car to compete with the likes of Audi and BMW, Infiniti is very likely going to release a high performance version of the car and even though this model will not be the Eu Rouge concept released back in 2014, it will certainly be something special.

Engine

Engine wise, the 2018 Infiniti Q50 Hybrid RWD will go through a couple of different changes. Firstly, there is going to be a completely new model slotted just under the current V6. This will make use of a 2 liter turbocharged inline 4 which will be provided by Mercedes and which is already available in Europe in China. This engine will provide up to 211 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque which is certainly less than what the current V6 is capable of but it should be enough for those looking for a more efficient car. The 3.7 liter V6 with 333 horsepower will carry on unchanged and the hybrid will also be carried over without any real changes made to it.

However, the new high performance model of the car should see a nice boost in performance. Rumors say that it will not receive the GT-R sourced 3.8 liter V6 but it will rather get a smaller 3 liter twin-turbocharged V6 which has been in development for a few years. This should be good for around 450 horsepower and up to 420 lb-ft of torque which is right in the territory of its competitors.

The transmission options will also be carried over unchanged so the Q50 will be available with rear wheel drive as standard while the more powerful versions will also get an optional all wheel drive system. A 7-Speed A/T, A/T, Transmission w/Dual Shift Mode will be available only with the 2 liter engine while all the others will get the 7 speed automatic which has been around for more than five years now.

2018 Infiniti Q50 Hybrid RWD Inside and Outside

Inside the cabin, the new 2018 Infiniti Q50 Hybrid RWD will carry on pretty much unchanged when it comes to the actual design of the car. However, it should receive a new infotainment system provided by Mercedes which will be running a new operating system. This will be easier to use as well as it will be more powerful than before so it should also provide a much smoother experience.

The exterior design of the car on the other hand will remain similar if not identical to the ongoing model. The high performance version will be the only one which will receive changes such as a new aerodynamic kit, new wheels and high performance tires as well as a quad-exhaust system to complete the sporty look.

2018 Infiniti Q50 Hybrid RWD Release date and Price

The best thing about the Q50 is the way it drives but just as we mentioned, the car is not perfect. The current model makes use of an electric steering system which is vague at best. Infiniti announced that they will replace it with an older hydraulic unit which should make the Q50 one of the best driving cars in its class and together with the rear wheel drive chassis, the car will certainly be a blast to drive. Its price should also drop by a small margin with the base model being now expected to cost less than $35,000 (acording to cnet), nearly $1,000 less than the ongoing car.
