BMW is getting ready to launch a refreshed version of their performance icon, 2018 BMW M3. This model represents an improved version of the famous 3-series on which the M3 is based. The vehicle now gets its development code, F80, and its own name. The BMW M3 is truly an excellent vehicle, but having in mind that competitors don’t sleep, the BMW M3 desperately needs refreshments for sure. The major competition of the 2018 BMW M3 includes the ATS-V and Mercedes-AMG C63. Those two vehicles, just like the new BMW M3, represent powerful machines and it will be very interesting to find out which one of them is the best.
If you thought that the new 2018 BMW M3 looks completely new, you are wrong. When you look at the vehicle, you will realize that its exterior represents a swap of the old lights and that most of the design cues are pretty much familiar. The newbie has the same headlights as the regular 3 Series, with refreshed LED stripes and twin-lights that are now moved further apart. The rear end of the car boasts newly designed taillights with LED technology. Well, the word “new” appears to be inappropriate for the taillights of the M3 because they basically look as the taillights of 2015 M3, but this is how things work with BMW. This time, customers will be offered two new colors for the exterior, including Champagne Quartz Metallic and Smoked Topaz Metallic together with the previous exterior colors such as Azurite Schwarz Metallic and Tanzanite Blue Metallic.
The cabin of the newcomer can’t be said to have received many changes. There are only several minor refreshments. Those minor refreshments significantly improved the appearance of the cabin and give it a touch of luxury and premium feel. The dashboard, center stack, and center console now get chrome highlights. One of the greatest features for the 2018 M3 is a new Navigation system Professional with LTE for which the company says it is the fastest mobile standard that can be found on the market. The company is yet to release the final list of features for their new M3.
Under the hood of the 2018 BMW M3 you will find the same engine which ensured power for the 2015 model. In our opinion, this is not a bad thing at all. The previous generation was powered by the 3.0-liter inline-six power unit that enables you to get the maximum output of 425 hp and 406 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual transmission comes as standard, but if you prefer the dual-clutch transmission, there will be a 7-speed option. With the manual shifter, the vehicle accelerates form 0 to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and with DCT from 0 to 60 mph in only 3.9 seconds with the top speed rated at 155 mph.
2018 BMW M3 Release date and price
For the new BMW M3 with all its improvements and refreshments, you will have to pay around $64.000 for the base model.
