The Panamera is one of the best selling cars Porsche ever made and it also happens to be one of the fastest four-door sedans ever made. The newest model is the 2017 Porsche Panamera which is just a mild update of the original which has been released back in 2015. The car will actually be updated in the near future with the 2019 model which is set to have a new modular rear wheel drive platform and not the front wheel drive platform of the A8. This is great news because the car will likely be a ton of fun and it will be one of the more impressive cars to drive without a doubt.

2017 Porsche Panamera Price

While the current model is getting old, its design and engines are on par with the newest cars out there. The base Panamera can currently be had for around $80,000 which is a tad higher than we would like. In fact, it is nearly $20,000 more than the equivalent Cayenne which is a very similar car when it comes to the interior space and all around design but the Panamera does have an ace up its sleeve, its performance. That’s right, the current Panamera is one of the best driving sedans in the World and even when equipped with the smaller engines, it is a blast to drive.

Engine

Under the hood of the 2017 Porsche Panamera there are a few different engines, depending on the market of choice. The base model in all markets comes with a 3.6 liter naturally aspirated V6 good for 310 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque while in Europe a smaller twin-turbocharged 3 liter V6 diesel with 250 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque is also available. Rear wheel drive and a 7 speed manual is available on both of them. The petrol model is also available with a 7 speed PDK automatic while the diesel comes with a different 8 speed model which is more refined but slightly slower than the PDK version.

Performance

Further up the range there is the S model which is the only other rear wheel drive model in the lineup. This comes with a 3 liter twin-turbo V6 with 420 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque and from now on, all the engines come with a standard 7 speed dual-clutch PDK automatic. There is also a 4S version available with all wheel drive. The GTS as well as the Turbo and Turbo S, all come with a 4.8 liter V8 in naturally aspirated or turbocharged form. Power ranges from 440 horsepower for the GTS to 570 horsepower for the Turbo S with the Turbo right in the middle of the two. A hybrid with a 3 liter V6 and a pair of electric motors is also available. This provides up to 25 miles of all electric range as well as a similar level of performance to the all wheel drive S model.

Exterior and Interior

Just as we previously mentioned, the exterior of the 2017 Porsche Panamera did not change all that much these years. The basic shooting brake shape remained unchanged but the car did receive new bumpers front and rear as well as all new wheel designs. The 2017 model also comes with slightly different headlights, a more aggressive front bumper as well as new color options. The interior of the car on the other hand received quite a few upgrades over the years and the 2017 model comes with the most advanced infotainment system yet as well as a new steering wheel for the high performance version and slightly different upholstery for all the models in the range. A long wheelbase version with more rear legroom is also available but only with the more powerful engines in order to keep the extra weight under wraps.
