The second generation of the popular Ford Edge is about to come on the market. The 2017 Ford Edge is a 5-passenger mid-size crossover will be available in four different trim levels including the base SE, improved SEL, high-end Titanium and the best-equipped Sport trim level. Its main competitors will be Nissan Murano, Mazda CX-9, Volkswagen Touareg, and Grand Cherokee. Since the previous model was launched recently, we don’t expect that the new Ford Edge will be significantly changed. We can expect some minor tweaks and changes for sure. Some trusted sites confirmed that the greatest change will be in the form of engine, so the newcomer will be better in terms of fuel efficiency and performance for sure.

We will start with the most important component of the 2017 Ford Edge, its heart. The vehicle will be available with AWD and FWD. All engine options will be mated to an automatic gearbox with six speeds. You will be able to choose between several engine options including a 2.0-liter four-cylinder twin-scroll turbo EcoBoost drivetrain, 3.5-liter Duratec V6 engine, and a 2.7-liter V6 twin-turbo EcoBoost drivetrain. The first engine option, the 2.0-liter four-cylinder twin-scroll turbo EcoBoost engine will be capable of producing 245 horses while the level of torque will be 275 lb-ft. The 3.5-liter Duratec V6 drivetrain will generate 280 hp while the level of torque will be 250 pound feet. The last engine option, the 2.7-liter V6 will be fitted to the highest trim level Sport. It will enable the vehicle to get the maximum output of 315 horses and 350 pound feet of torque. There are also rumors that an 8-speed automatic gearbox will be available as well, but the company hasn’t confirmed anything yet. Details about fuel efficiency are not available, but we expect the newcomer to be more fuel-efficient than the vehicle it replaces.
