If the new 2017 Dodge Challenger look familiar to you especially if you are older you certainly remember the Challenger from the 70’s then the guys from Dodge challenged the Firebird, Camaro and the Mustang with a Challenger equipped with a powerful HEMI and with a snappy but muscular styling. If you remember those days now 45 years later you can see that the 2017 model still retains its retro roots with a 426-hp V8 HEMI still under the hood of this beast.
Again if we look back on the 1970 and ’71 period those models were subtle as well as every next generation and that is the same thing with this update. Subtle changes will be made like the slight redesign of the front and rear end’s. Also updates are made on a new hood with a larger bulge, the quad headlights are surrounded with LED’s, the split-grille slot is now thinner while the air dam is now deeper, taillights are redesigned and equipped with LED lights and there is an option of a Shaker hood.
While the exterior still holds the styling of the ’70s, the interior is newly designed and brand new it is done in retro style and new technology. The instrument cluster got a 7-inch TFT screen fitted between the speedometer and tach. The center stack is equipped with a new 8.4-inch touchscreen display featuring new infotainment system, navigation and a rear-view camera. The center armrest now have a USB outlet a auxiliary audio input and a S3 card slot.
The 2017 Dodge Challenger newer lacked performance that is for sure and now the 2017 model year is offered with a monster engines. The first is a 3.6-Liter V6 capable to develop 305 horsepower developed by Chrysler. While the second and third is a 5.7-Liter and Hemi V8 and a 6.4-Liter Hemi V8 that is able to put out 375 horses and 410 poun feet of torque. All engines are mated with a Tremec six-speed manual gearbox while the optional TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic is available too (this one is standard on a V6).
